The Voluntary Sector Strategy Group - What is it?The concept of the Voluntary Sector Strategy Group (VSSG) was developed during Compact consultation events within the voluntary sector during 2004. It grew out of a recognition that no one individual could adequately represent the depth and diversity of the voluntary sector. The VSSG offers an opportunity to address this by enabling individual members to draw on the knowledge and experience of the wider sector in a more structured and efficient way. The VSSG is directly linked to the Compact Partnership with 8 of its members being the 8 voluntary sector members of the Compact Partnership. Its primary purpose is to be a feeder of information to and from the voluntary sector into planning arenas across the city whether that planning relates to health or community transport.
