Search for a phrase
If you wish to search for a phrase, please include that inside double quotes e.g. "Abbeyfield Society".
Browse Local Organisations
Browse Alphabetically
Please select the first letter of the organisation that you are interested in. This will bring up a list of organisations starting with the letter you selected.
Please note that we have put the word "The" at the end of the name for some organisations to avoid overcrowding the letter "T". For example, the proper name for Abbeyfield Society is "The Abbeyfield Society". However, we have listed it as "Abbeyfield Society, The". You will not find it by looking under "T", instead you will find it under "A".
Browse by Category
Please select the category from the drop down menu and hit the "Search" button to bring up a list of organisations belonging to the category you selected.
Please note that organisations have been assigned a category by the Edinburgh Compact. If you find your organisation listed incorrectly, please let us know.
Browse by Postcode
Please enter a postcode or a part of a postcode to search for organisations within that postcode area. Please note that you need to type a space after single digit post codes. For example, if you need to search for "EH1", then you need to type in "EH1 " (without the quotes). If you do not type a space, the search will display organisations in all the postcodes starting with EH1. This includes EH10, EH11 etc.
Please note that you can combine a postcode and a category to make your search more efficient.
Advanced Search
Please enter your keyword(s) into the box labelled "Keywords". You can enter phrases by including them inside double quotes. For example "Abbeyfield Society".
Search options:
- Match at least one word - This will display entries which match at least one of your keywords.
- Match all words - This will display only those organisations which match all of your keywords.
- Match exact phrase - This will display only those organisations which match the exact phrase you entered.
- Postcode - Please enter a postcode or a part of a postcode to search for organisations within that postcode area. Please note that you need to type a space after single digit post codes. For example, if you need to search for "EH1", then you need to type in "EH1 " (without the quotes). If you do not type a space, the search will display organisations in all the postcodes starting with EH1. This includes EH10, EH11 etc.
- Beneficiary - Please select an item from the drop down menu to see a list of organisations providing services to the selected group.
- Category - Please select an item from the drop down menu to see a list of organisations belonging to that category. Please note that organisations have been assigned a category by Edinburgh Compact. Please let us know if you think your organisation has been classified incorrectly.
- Services offered - Please select an item from the drop down menu to see a list of organisations which provide that service.
Please note that you can mix'n'match any or all search options to make your search more efficient.
